What the future holds for vaping technology

Vape Technology

Before heading to the future of vaping technology, let us take a step back and discuss about the history of electronic cigarettes, often referred to as e-cigarettes or ecigs.

Who invented it?

Herbert A. Gilbert first coined the idea and concept in 1963, when he introduced the first smokeless non-tobacco cigarette. This idea was never really commercialized due to the failure at mass producing his invention but the concept became the basic ground on which e-cigarettes are now derived.

Who made alterations in the original idea?

Later on, in 2003, a Chinese pharmacist named Hon Lik revisited the concept of e-cigarette after he lost his father due to lung cancer. This incident became the motivational factor in Hon Lik’s life to use his scientific background and find a healthier alternative to smoking cigarettes. Adapting from the smokeless non-tobacco cigarette concept developed by Herbert Gilbert, Lik invented a device that vaporized pressurized propylene glycol, one of the key ingredients of vaping juice today. The device that he created used piezoelectric ultrasound emitting elements to heat and vaporize the liquid; and he also successfully conceptualized the idea of a plastic mouthpiece as an e-liquid reservoir.

Who brought it to us?

Even Hon Lik could not gain popularity at that point in time, but eventually in 2007, e-cigarettes were reinvented by two British entrepreneurs, Umar and Tariq Sheikh. They invented the first cartomizer, the device that integrates the heating wire or coil into the e-liquid reservoir. Deriving from the cartomizer technology, in 2009, clearomizer was designed, a device that contains wicking material, an e-liquid reservoir and an atomizer coil all in one single transparent unit. The advanced variable voltage batteries were also introduced during the same time.

Furthermore, the research and development is constantly done on the technological advancements, due to the popularity and innovation that the booming vape industry demand. Unique gadgets were developed with the inclusion of internal chips, OLED screens, temperature control systems and other additional features such as battery level indicators and ohms readers, that helped bring about a change from square shaped device to Box MODs.

Future of Vapes

When it comes to the future of vaping industry, there has been a shift in the concerns that the industry is trying to resolve. Vapor production will remain the primary focus when making any further alterations in the vapes. Advances in efficient lithium ion polymer batteries are expected to be made so that people can relish the experience of vaping uninterrupted. The emphasis on premium quality and durability is equally important, meanwhile complying with the stringent standards and regulations.
